About Heaps O’ Sheep

Kim and Chris farmed Perendale sheep on a 50 hectare block in Cheviot, North Canterbury. They wanted to diversify their business because wool prices were fluctuating. They looked for an opportunity to add value to the lambs they were producing and wanted to work from home as they live quite some distance to the nearest town.

Chris is an excellent cook and produced the best lamburgers their friends had ever tasted, so with a little encouragement from their friends, Chris and Kim marketed their burgers to the general public. The burgers were first sold through a relatives butcher shop in Christchurch but the real breakthrough came when Chris and Kim set up a stand at the local A&P show in Christchurch.

Within a few hours the lamburgers had sold out and there were several advance orders from a supermarket wishing to trial the product. Since then the Heaps O’ Sheep Lamburger Co has gone from strength to strength, and is now looking to compete on the international market.
